Illustration Friday: Infinite

So much for Sketching everyday, I guess this week I've been busier. Here's a new Illustration Friday sketch. Didn't take much time on this at all, and not very happy with my idea. If I come up with something better, I'll post it.

Illustration Friday: Welcome

Quick one today for the IF theme "Welcome". Messed up with the horn and the doorway. Maybe I'll fix later if I have time. EDIT: Did a quick little photoshop, and his horn is no properly behind the doorway :)

Happy Anniversary Honey!

Five years and she's still super excited to see me when I come home from work everyday. I am a lucky man.
Scribbled this at lunch (there's a little hot sauce by the hearts).

I'm super excited because Cristina just called to let me know the first Oswald tee I did for Lucky Brand is (finally) on sale now at their website and maybe in their stores too. http://www.luckybrand.com/Disney+s-Oswald-the-Lucky-Rabbit-T-Shirt/LBJ00278,default,pd.html&selectedColor=154x220

Egg Farm Complete!

Here it is, this may not be the final variation, as I'm waiting on some feedback from my trusted fellow artists over at the mattart.com forums. But right now, I feel done.

Day 2: creation of the firmament.

This is day 2 of Creation. This one took me longer than the first, despite the fact that I already had the frame made from day 1. The wave owes a lot to The Great Wave, by the japanese artist Hokusai.

Skate Board Deck

I designed this for my zazzle store and posted it for sale early this morning. I plan to do one for each of the seven days of creation. This was a lot of fun to work on. Check out the actual deck here: http://www.zazzle.com/genesis_day_1_skate_deck_skateboard-186121987130558229

Cristina and I at EPCOT

I did this for Cristina for our anniversary this last year, but at the time I accidentally forgot to include wedding rings on our fingers and also had given her an odd stumpy arm, then the PC I had saved it on crashed and I only now got around to making the corrections. It's suppose to depict us on our honeymoon at Walt Disney World. We had a lot of fun on that trip.

Cloud Photo

I've been taking a ton of cloud pictures lately with my google phone (it's super convenient 'cause I can upload them directly to the web). This is one of my favorites. Check out the others in my Picasa web album at: http://picasaweb.google.com/brandonstarr Be sure to check out the clouds album and the Newport Pier album for some good cloud photos.

Do you Doodle?

My wife bough me this great book called Do You Doodle by Nikalas Catlow. Each page has a different doodle for you to complete. They're great excersises for when you need to draw but are having artist's block. This is the first page from my book. I think you can tell what I drew and what Nikalas drew.

Another Kitchen Revision

OK, here's another revision to my kitchen layout for ACME animation. Boy this blog is all over the place lately. These revisions are my attempt at showing more story in the layout. I hope you all like it.

Illustration Friday: Baby topic

OK, I know this illustration is nothing spectacular, just a quick sketch of a baby bunny. But this is my first step in attempting to get back in the habit of drawing regularly outside of work and posting more often. So I'm going to try and do the illustration friday challenges every week. This weeks topic is baby.

Mural

Hey Everyone,
I'm sure I tried to recruit almost everyone who reads this blog at some point to help complete this mural for our good friends Nick and Amber and of course their baby Gwen. Well here are the results. We did get some help from both Nick and Amber's parents and one of their friends whose name I can't remember. But the majority was painted by me and Nick, and my lovely wife Cristina. Amber really wanted to paint, but she was pregnant with Gwen at the time (but I think she did some secret painting anyway when we weren't around). The whole project took a long time. I sketched all the artwork onto their walls freehand since we had no opaque projector, then I numbered the colors so everyone who wanted to could help us by doing paint by numbers. Then I went over most of it again to add some details. We finished it a week before Gwen showed up.
All these pics were taken by my beautiful wife by the way.

Artwork for the CG Challenge

I can't believe we're in the middle of May and I haven't posted since January.
Well hopefully everyone will enjoy this one. I did this for the latest CG challenge posted over here http://features.cgsociety.org/challenge/ which is supposedly "inspired by "Uplift War", a book by David Brin", though the only real requirements were that the entrants show human and alien interaction and use digital media. The winners of the challenge haven't been picked yet, so wish me luck.
